Operation Spawn

You may, or may not, know that Farmer Ted and I are from the coast of South Carolina.

Right now, we are temporary Yankees.  Because of Ted’s job, we couldn’t manage a trip home this summer.  However, Bob Smith had his grandspawn down for a week.  They did all sorts of fun things…

And then, the spawn came home.  Bob Smith texted me from the airport that they were off and on their way winging home to me.  He said upon their departure, “I shed a tear when they left my sight.  Wonderful young men.”

I can’t think of a greater compliment from a parent to their grown child, and my heart grew 3 times its size.  Yes, they are wonderful young men.  Despite ourselves, we are doing something right.

Thank you to all of our Chucktown family who made their visit special!  We love you Bob & GiGi!

Yep! They are INDEED fine young Men. Between Farmer Chele, their Father and Myself? (I’m thinking that we’ve hit a home run.) I could have been a real douche and left their Dad out of this little equation but how shitty would that be? Pretty shitty; So I’ll give due credit to everyone involved. There’s PLENTY of times that I’ve caught myself second guessing how we raise the boys… “Was that the right advice to give?” “Was this the example that I was trying to set?” (Stuff like that…) But after hearing Bob (Not his real name) give the kids big kudos…. I’m finished questioning SHIT as far as they’re concerned. We do what we do and thus far, everything seems to have worked itself out for the better. Sweet.

On to the gardening part of the blog… So what’s the latest in the world of backyard gardening? We have too many tomatoes. We have too many tomato plants AND they’re too close together; By the way that it looks… We have one HUGE tomato jungle going on. Oh well… Always learning. Everything growing, though… For the most part. Our lettuces and peas and stuff like that really didn’t do jack shit but everything else is lookin’ pretty sharp! So there ya have it. We do what we do…

They are the best spawn you could hope for. I loved hanging out with both of them and we were sorry to see them leave. Great cousins to my spawnette!
